Las Catalinas, consisting of approximately 1,200 acres in the Guanacaste area of Costa Rica, is envisioned to be a seaside resort town that builds on the design precedents of historic Mediterranean coastal and hill towns. Beach Town, the main activity center, is located on the site’s prime beach frontage and will contain a broad range of retail, restaurant, entertainment, office, recreation, and other supporting uses.
Central Atlanta Progress hired TSW to create implementation focused design recommendations for the two South Downtown MARTA Stations, Five Points and Garnett.
The Lawrenceville Park, which includes an amphitheater for community events and a playground, is the first phase of TSW’s Jackson Street Master Plan to be built. A key feature of the park is the use of bio-swales and bio-retention to manage stormwater runoff.
TSW served as the Local Architect for Atlanta’s ChristChurch Presbyterian that developed a dramatic new sanctuary that features a modern design and incorporates much of the site’s existing building and complements its urban setting.
KSU Health Sciences Building
Prillaman Hall, also known as the Health Sciences Building, which opened in August 2010, is a $56 million facility designed by Cooper Carry architects. TSW was responsible for design, construction documents, and construction administration for the building site, courtyard area, and plaza. The project was awarded LEED Gold certification, and TSW was responsible for site planning and landscape specific LEED credits.
Eastside Trail Gateway
Atlanta BeltLine Historic Fourth Ward Park /
The Atlanta BeltLine is a 22-mile loop of trails, transit, and parks following an abandoned railroad right- of-way. TSW led a consultant team to provide design and engineering for the Historic Fourth Ward Park / Eastside Trail Gateway. As part of the design process, TSW incorporated lighting, vegetation, and stormwater management strategies. TSW developed schematic design and construction documentation and provided construction administration. The gateway trail project was completed in August 2014.
The Woodstock Downtown development, a mixed-use community in the heart of Woodstock, Georgia, contains several community parks and open spaces. TSW, as part of the master planning effort, created plans for each of the parks. Civic spaces include: the Woodstock Downtown Plaza that provides outdoor seating and dining; Dial Park, a mostly wooded linear park centrally located in the development, contains an outdoor theater and restroom, a basketball half-court, passive lawns areas, water features, playground, and fire pit; and pocket parks throughout the community. TSW also completed streetscape and trail design for the development.
Dauphin County, Pennsylvania
TSW was hired by The Charlan Group in 2009 to create a master plan for a 369-acre site located in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. The master plan will serve to guide long-term development and embodies the vision for the unique community based on traditional principles.
Augusta Sustainable Development
TSW led a consultant team to develop a detailed corridor plan and implementation program for the City of Augusta, Georgia, that follows HUD guidelines and Livability Principles. The corridor is a 4.5 mile north-south “spine” in the core of the city, which runs from downtown to the vacant Regency Mall area along 15th Street, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and Deans Bridge Road
TSW is currently working with the City of Suwanee to update its 2009 Downtown Master Plan. Suwanee is already considered a leader in the region for its vibrant Town Center, greenway system, public art program, and smart growth model that focuses on walkable, mixed-use growth. TSW already serves as Suwanee’s town architect to review developments for compliance with the city’s design objectives.
Big Bethel AME
Big Bethel AME, located on historic Auburn Avenue, retained Bleakly Advisory Group and TSW to develop concepts for nearby parcels that are owned by the church. With the creation of a church campus, along with the addition of a mix of residential and commercial, Big Bethel AME hopes to encourage continued revitalization of the Sweet Auburn neighborhood and complement the streetcar that runs along Auburn Avenue.
Dalian New Airport Business District
This ambitious project, which is part of a larger 54 square mile planning area, is to be built in conjunction with a new international airport currently under construction on a man-made island a mile offshore. Roughly half of the project’s 6,000-acre coastal site will also be created by filling in a shallow bay.
Northeast State Community College
TSW completed a Master Plan for the main campus, including a comprehensive physical analysis, space analysis and needs projections, growth projections based on a demographic analysis, recommendations for new facilities and other improvements, long-term parking recommendations, and a program for the proposed Advanced Technology building.
Town of Blythewood Master Plan
Blythewood, South Carolina
The historic village of Blythewood lies 20 miles north of Columbia, South Carolina, in the path of development that follows I-77. The town is known for its rural character and horse farms, both of which were threatened by the lack of a proactive plan for future growth. TSW was retained in 2008 to work with local stakeholders to develop a master plan to guide growth for the next generation.
Lucy Street Townhomes
Woodstock Community Church
TSW was retained to design a new worship center for Woodstock Community Church about a mile north of the historic downtown. The church’s design is Contextual Modernism, which embraces contemporary shapes while evoking the surrounding rural woodland character. The 19,000 square foot building includes a 300-seat sanctuary, 1/2 court basketball-sized fellowship hall, 12 classrooms and a green parking lot built with fully permeable gravel to allow rainwater to pass through.
Ansley Forest Renovation
TSW was retained to provide full architecture services for the renovation of the Ansley Forest Apartments. Original built in the 1970s, this 269 unit rental apartment community includes 20 different 3 to 4 level buildings with a mixture of flat units, garden units, and two level townhouse units. All unit interiors are being renovated to allow for more open floor plan layouts.
